Online Data

How do you get your data and Graphics?

This access is granted to authenticated users of the UTMB network only. Thus you must be logged into the UTMB master domain. If you are logged into Microsoft Outlook and your email is visible you are already in.

Some form of the "map network drive" function is common to all computers systems on campus. The example below should work on Windows based systems.

  • To assign a drive letter to a network computer or folder
  • Open the "My Computer" icon
  • On the Tools menu, click Map Network Drive
  • In Drive, select a drive letter, (it does not have to be "X" like in the example below, the letter is not important)
  • Fill out the dialog box to make it look like this…

  • Click the "Finish" button and you can then use the newortk drive like a virtual hard drive and "drag and drop" your data folders to your own computer. This is no more work than copying the data to some portable device while in the flow lab and was set up to simpify data transfer compared to copying data from flow lab computers to disks or jump drives (which is still possible, but not any easier).
  • MAC USERS: On the Mac use the "Go" menu choice "Connect to Server" and type smb://utmbf2/flowdata

Who is responsible for keeping this data?

All users of the lab are advised to copy their new data to their own mass storage devices within one month of collection and to keep a copy of it in their labs. Even if you do not do your own analysis, these files are your primary scientific data for your flow cytometry experiments (not the printout), and you have an obligation to keep it.
