Overview

Cellular and molecular pathogenesis of herpesviruses; signal transduction; regulation of viral and cellular gene expression; cell-cycle perturbation; and the induction of cellular damage in the presnce and absence of genotoxic chemicals.

Research Interests

Dr. Albrecht's research focuses on mechanisms controlling the cellular response to human herpes virus infections, particularly human cytomegalovirus infection (HCMV). Specifically, the molecular basis for the cellular pathogenesis of HCMV is investigated, i.e., signal transduction events, effects on cellular transcription factors and gene expression, mechanisms of cell cycle activation and perturbation of its regulation, regulation of HCMV gene expression through cellular molecules, and mechanisms of cellular damage and malignant transformation.
