Molecular biology of positive-strand RNA viruses, hepatitis C virus, picornaviruses

Research Interests

My research focuses on investigating the cellular genes that are regulated in viral infection, particularly in Hepatitis C virus infection. We are using cDNA microarray technology to investigate these changes both in cultured cells expressing HCV proteins and in HCV infected liver tissue. We are also applying this technology to investigate genetic changes in hepatocellular carcinoma both in humans and in a HCV transgenic mouse model developed in our laboratory.
