Overview

Molecular basis of virulence variations between West Nile virus (WNV) strains; flaviviruses, arboviruses and smallpox.

Research Interests

Dr. Beasley's research currently focuses on the molecular basis of virulence and antigenic variations between strains of West Nile virus. His lab's wider research activities include studies that may lead to development of improved diagnostic and therapeutic reagents for flaviviruses and other arboviruses, and he directs an NIH-sponsored project to develop and validate, under GLP conditions, a high-throughput assay for vaccinia and smallpox serodiagnosis.
