Research Interests

During my pediatric residency and fellowship experiences I was involved in different research projects relating to nutrition, physiology of gut hormones and pathophysiology of infectious diarrhea. Since joining the Child Health Research Center at UTMB, I have been working on the pathogenesis of mucosa-restricted viral infections, such as respiratory syncytial virus, rotavirus and the recently identified human metapneumovirus, identifying mechanisms regulating the expression of pro-inflammatory genes in viral-infected cells.
