Antigen processing; T-cell presentation; mucosal immunity; H. pylori, inflammatory bowel disease, gastric cancer, peptic ulcer disease.
My research interests include various aspects of mucosal immune regulation. Research efforts in my laboratory have helped elucidate the role of mucosal epithelial cells and myo?broblasts in local T cell regulation during gastrointestinal inflammation. The interactions of H. pylori and the gastric epithelium are being used as a relevant model system of chronic mucosal inflammation. Also, we are interested in understanding the H. pylori and host interactions that lead to in?ammation and tissue damage. Further, as gastric cancer is a deadly form of cancer because there are no reliable diagnostic markers, our lab is involved in studies to characterize early biomarkers of disease for diagnostic purposes.
