Mechanisms of HIV-persistence during HAART.
Dr. Sahu's research aimed at understanding the mechanism of HIV persistence in patients during suppressive, highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Specifically, his laboratory is trying to understand the mechanism of HIV latency in normal CD4+ T-lymphocytes maintained long-term in a culture system that was recently developed and to identify the cellular HIV-reservoir(s) responsible for residual viral replication during HAART.
