Advanced Immunology Course Policies, Fall Semester 2009

Grading.
Three exams will be given over the duration of the course; the dates are indicated on the schedule. All exams will be of the essay type. The exam will be taken in class. The exams will comprise 80% of the final grade. A grant proposal and oral presentation (described below) will comprise 20% of the final grade. The grant proposal will be due on or before 9:00 a.m. December 1st. Late submissions will not be accepted. Oral presentation dates are indicated on the course schedule.

Test, grant proposal, and oral presentation make-up policy.
Make-up tests will only be allowed in emergency situations which would preclude the student from physically being present. Emergency situations are defined as incapacitating illnesses or family emergencies. There will be no deviation from this policy.

Grant proposal and oral presentation.
A grant proposal (10-12 double spaced pages in length) will be prepared by the student on any significant topic in the field of immunology. An oral presentation (30 - 45 minutes) covering the grant proposal topic will be given at the semester’s end. The students and attendant faculty will grade the oral presentation.

Students are required to complete a course evaluation form as part of their overall course requirements. Typically, your constructive comments are in exchange for your graded exams. If a completed evaluation form is not received, an "I" Incomplete grade will be reported to the Office of Enrollment Services. If the course requirements are not completed within 30 days, the grade automatically converts to an "F" Failure grade.

Revised: August 28, 2009
