Dr Fausther Bovendo’s research is centered around developing
therapeutic antibodies against viral pathogens and around identifying
viral escape mechanisms to identify novel therapeutic targets. His work
utilized human samples, flow cytometry-based cell sorting (FACS),
molecular biology, and animal models of infection. Dr Fausther
Bovendo’s current research interests include the development of
monoclonal antibodies against emerging pathogens and the optimization of
DNA-based antibody gene transfer in which antibody nucleotide sequences
rather than proteins are administered.
In addition to his core
research, Dr Fausther Bovendo is also involved in Capacity building in
Central and West Africa to improve the surveillance and diagnostic of
emerging pathogens.
